TSU Trivia Tennessee State University's Alma Mater was written by Laura M. Averitte and is played at noon and 6 p.m. each day from the bell tower atop the Humanities Building. Averitte graduated from Tennessee State A&I College in 1918 and wrote the lyrics to the TSU Alma Mater in 1931. The amphitheater on the Main Campus is named in her honor.
